Dolpa, a land beyond the Himalayas, conjures up visions of mysterious monasteries, show leopard and blue sheeps. It is lies in Shey Phoksundo national park at western part of Nepal between Tibet plateau and Dhaulagiri range. The Dolpa are generally adherents of bon, a religion whose origin predates Buddhism but whose modern form is officially accepted as a fifth school of Tibetan Buddhism.
Nepal’s first English subtitle movie and the movie nominated for the Oscar (The Caravan) was shot in this region.
During our trek we also cross a few Himalayan passes and enjoy the vast and tranquil beauty of Phoksundo lake. We will reverse back to Jhuphal, where our trek finally comes to an end. The important thing to keep on notice is that the Upper Dolpa reuires the special permit and it cost USD 500 for 10 days and other USD 50 each day after the 10 days. The group should at least have two people to get this trekking permit for this trek. Individual trekker will not get a permit for this trekking region.
